Florida Association of Social Studies Supervisors Statement of purpose

The membership of the Florida Association of Social Studies Supervisors (FASSS) is composed of Social Studies educators with supervisory responsibilities in their school districts.  FASSS members are dedicated to providing an excellent Social Studies program that includes the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to build a responsible citizenry in Florida and our nation.  Its members work to meet this goal through the following objectives:

ü     To promote and provide high quality educational leadership for the members of the association.

ü     To stimulate top-notch professional growth and development among Social Studies educators.  

ü     To study and pursue educational legislation deemed beneficial for education.

ü     To provide information to the public concerning Social Studies programs and the state of Social Studies education in Florida.

ü     To work closely with the Florida Council for the Social Studies, the Florida Department of Education, School Districts, and independent organizations that share an interest in Social Studies education.
